[WAY BEFORE, BEFORE AND AFTER]
So after yesterday's dilemma about my love and hate relationship with caffeine, I decided to do this RATHER intriguing science experiment with my self. Since I'm already re-drawing my old doodle cubes might as well do a before and after I took caffeine. I always felt my art skills goes up when I'm on caffeine but I always thought it was just those hight-of-the-moment thing because I'm more optimistic and happier... and I guess I wasn't just dreaming.

So here's the really really old one. It's actually one of my favorites out of the doodle cubes back then. A character from another story I have in my brain library.

I try to make him with a darker atmosphere, and because I HATE drawing anything symmetrical it took me about an hour to get his face right. The hair took up great deal of time since I re-drew it several times to get the balance right, and LOTS of blending. Took me about 2 hours and that's laughable for such a small doodle!

Now this is the creepy part. I drew this in exactly an hour. Coloring and everything. Yea the lines are much more sketchier looking abut that's because I put a LOT more detail in the hair. The coloring is messier, but the face has more 3D look to it with interesting color bounces from the BG. It has more movement to the entire picture. This is drawn after I had caffeine.

Here's another one. It's simple, yet that shading with the red is a pretty nifty idea. He's supposed to look kinda creepy and evil.

Heh, like THAT looked evil! Only the colors really made it hint that he was a spy or an assassin on the previous cube so I decided to put more attitude and personality to the character.

Hi chemicals! What's up?! I personally digg how this came out. I changed the red to a brighter saturated color, and adding another darker red for the darker shadowing really makes the face look 3D, and the lighting tells you he's plotting something. Also covering his face with the shadow adds that devilish look with his villain smile.
I kinda wish I didn't do this experiment because I want to do anything I can do to improve my artworks... and damn this is like a propaganda against my drug-free policy to my self. My morals and self control is being tested and I'm kind of in a mini panic. I know if I don't go overboard I won't have to worry about dieing, and I'm sure people take possibly more than I do from coffee and soda pops so should I not be too guilty about it? But just the thought that I have something I need to really pull out my artistic abilities makes me feel like a failure; like steroids. I need to think about this issue pretty seriously...
